Brian, his mom, and his sister, Jennie, have left their Manhattan home for a canoe trip in Northern Quebec in order to scatter the ashes of Brian’s father, whose most cherished memories were of his childhood summer spent at a camp. They are unprepared for this trip and tragedy is only averted when they are rescued by an old man named Pierre who offers his services as a guide. In the end they discover that Pierre is somebody far more important than simply a guide.
